WRGC celebrates Silver Jubilee | Drugs, insurgency stumbling block for progress in TCL: Gao

DEOMALI, Mar 18: Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency Tapir Gao Saturday said that drugs menace and insurgency problem are the major hindrances for progress and development of Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) region of the state and exhorted all to fight against all such anti-social activities.

Gracing the silver jubilee celebrations of Wangcha Rajkumar Government College (WRGC) here, the MP emphasised on indigenous languages, which he said is the key for preservation and promotion of culture and traditions of every community.

While paying homage to former MP Wangcha Rajkumar, Gao congratulated all the past and present faculties for serving the students for 25 glorious years uninterruptedly and producing good numbers of educated youths.

“Since, its establishment, the college is doing tremendous job for the students of Tirap and Longding district in bringing confidence and moulding their lives in finding future career,” Gao said.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by WRGC Principal Dr Monshi Tayeng, the MP announced 20 lakh for construction of a kitchen, another two lakh for tree plantations in a decorative way for beautification of college campus and one football ground.

PHE&WS minister Wangki Lowang while addressing the event, congratulated the faculties, alumni and students of the college on completing 25 years.

He added that despite facing tough time in the initial stage of establishment of the college at Chatjo due to security reason, the teaching faculties brought academic achievement in the college which is quite commendable.

Terming college as the last stage of learning, Lowang said, “Let the college be a centre of activities and creativity.”

He assured all possible help from his side in consultation with concerned department to improve infrastructure of the college on priority.

Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong in his deliberations expressed his concern and continued support for the development of the college.

Lowangdong said that it is the only college for the twin districts of Tirap and Longding and the representatives of both the districts have also generated funds for construction of the academic blocks at Chatjo which could not be used due to various reason and was shifted to present location at Deomali.

In his welcome address the college principal presented power point presentation highlighting the glorious 25 years journey of the college. (DIPRO)
