Shillong, Bihar can’t decide fate of Manipur: CM N.Biren
Imphal: Taking a jibe at the rival National People’s Party (NPP) and Janata Dal (United), Chief Minister N Biren said that such political parties based in Shillong and Bihar cannot decide the destiny of the State whose future lies in the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate Y Antas Khan from Lilong AC on Thursday, Chief Minister Biren said that some leaders among the political parties fighting the election in the State are thinking of lobbying with their high command in Shillong and Bihar. He said that these leaders are responsible for ruining and selling out the State; therefore people should not trust such leaders.
Manipur is a land having its own 2000 years old history where many brave heroes who fearlessly fought against the mighty British were born, the Chief Minister said, questioning whether such a proud land of brave heroes would go to Shillong and Bihar to request the high command for protecting Manipur. It is better to retire from politics than to seek blessings from Shillong and Bihar, he said.
Biren said that there are some politicians in Lilong who have no political ethics as they jump from one party to another for their personal interest. They are not human and as such people should not trust such fraudulent politicians, he added.
With reference to the assurance made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah that integrity of the State won’t be compromised in any manner, the Chief Minister maintained that the BJP is committed to protecting the integrity of the State at any cost.
In line with the mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash’, the BJP-led government has taken up many development works and welfare schemes in the State. Rs. 2 lakh under CMHT and Rs. 5 lakh under PM Ayushman are provided to the poor as financial assistance towards their medical treatment, he said.
When the people were encountering intense hardships of Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided 5 Kg rice each to the citizen free of cost, apart from launching mass Covid vaccination to protect the people from the virus, the Chief Minister continued. He appealed to the people to support the BJP to ensure that the party wins an absolute majority as a token of gratitude to the dedicated services rendered by the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister continued his tirade against the Congress, saying that the grand old party during its 15-year long tenure failed to take up any development works for the minority. The BJP-led government constructed many Ima Markets in different parts of the State, including Lilong, he added.
Contending that terror gripped the people during the 15-year long Congress regime in the State due to fake encounters, the Chief Minister said that womenfolk spent many sleepless nights at Meira Paibi sheds to protect their husbands and sons from armed security personnel. Manipur police were noted for its brutality. It is the Congress that made the police brutal. The State has now seen peace, progress and prosperity after the BJP came to power in the State in 2017, he claimed.
The recent first phase election indicates that the BJP will come to power after March 10. The first phase election for 38 Assembly Constituencies was held on February 28. The BJP will win 30 seats out of the 38 seats. The saffron party is also expecting more seats from the second phase election. It is quite clear that the BJP will form the next government with an absolute majority. The BJP is a secular party that is committed to maintaining peaceful co-existence among the different communities, the Chief Minister said.
BJP Manipur Pradesh President A Sharda, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Pratima Bhaumik, Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education Dr. RK Ranjan, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and Assam Minister and Manipur election Co-in-charge Ashok Singhal also attended the flag hoisting ceremony.
