Thoubal: Thoubal District Police arrested an individual along with a large number of Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) tablets on Tuesday. The district police also arrested two persons with 25 gram of brown sugar on Monday.
As per police sources, on receipt of information regarding the movement of contraband items from Lilong to Mantripukhri area, a team of Thoubal District Commando led by O. Wangkhomba, Additional SP (Ops) Thoubal and assisted by O. Iboton DSP (CDO) Thoubal and N. Sadananda, OC CDO Thoubal under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam (IPS), SP Thoubal rushed towards Mantripukhri area in Imphal East on Tuesday at around 11.30 AM.
During the search operation, the police team detained one person namely Md. Ephammayum Ethem (46), son of Late Ephammayum Amo of Kwakta Charangpat presently staying at Mantripukhri Ahallup Kontha Khunou. Md. Ephammayum Ethem was carrying a white plastic sack.
The police team after observing necessary formalities searched the person and his belongings and found 11602 numbers of SP tablets inside the sack, a source said.
The arrested person along with the seized items has been handed over to Heingang Police Station for further necessary action.
On the other hand, a team of Thoubal Commando led by O. Wangkhomba, Additional SP (Ops) Thoubal and assisted by N. Sadananda, OC Thoubal Commando under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam (IPS), SP Thoubal seized brown sugar from two individuals at Usoipokpi area on Monday at around 11.30 PM.
The two individuals have been identified as Md. Shahid Rahaman (27), son of Md. Abdul and Md. Sajid Ahamad (20), son of Late Md. Rashid Ahamad, both from Lilong Usoipokpi Chingol, Thoubal district.
The source informed that the duo coming on a Yamaha FZ bike bearing registration number MN01 R9324 black in colour was detained during the course of routine frisking and checking on the NH 102 at Usoipokpi. After observing necessary formalities, they were searched and found two soap cases containing brown sugar from their possession, weighing 25 gram approximately, excluding the weight of the plastic soap cases, the source said.
The arrested individuals along with the seized items and the vehicle have been handed over to Lilong Police Station where a case was registered taking further necessary action, the source added.
