Come forward, exercise voting right: DEO Senapati,Manipur
Manipur:Senapati (DIO): Mahesh Chaudhari, District Election Officer, Senapati stated that every individual should come forward and exercise the voting right on Saturday.
Briefing media persons at NIC Conference Hall on Friday, he said that three polling stations have been designated as the Model polling station and are located within the district HQ. The model polling stations are at Taphou Naga-49/60, Taphou Oname- 49/62 and Emesiiphro- 49/66 which will be manned by women personnel of both polling personnel and security personnel. He also said that all the polling stations in the district will be webcasted for the first time in the district. Micro-Observers are also being trained and deployed for the smooth conduct of elections, he added.
To run smoothly on the conduct of election, he said that General Observer, Police Observer and Expenditure Observer are already there to observe the electioneering process.
He mentioned that polling personnel who went out for poll duty have been dispersed successfully and will be received tomorrow at Mini Secretariat Complex. He further said that for safe conduct of election in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic, an ASHA worker has been appointed along with the polling personnel. He also appealed to all the political parties to maintain peaceful election manners and follow the norms laid down by ECI for the smooth conduct of election.
Karthick Malladi, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Senapati said that security deployment in all polling stations have been taken properly. He also said that every uniform personnel will act as per the law without fear and favour.
On the security deployment in the district, he said that out of 50 Companies of security personnel, one company is assigned to watch over strong room and the rest at polling station have deployed at various polling stations. He also said that one company of CISF stationed at Tadubi and one company of BSF at Purul have been deployed. To tackle the law and order situation, Mobile Quick Response team have been formed in each constituency – 12 Mobile Quick Response team in 47- Karong (ST) AC, 15 Mobile Quick Response team in 48-Mao (ST) AC and 12 Mobile Quick Response team in 49-Tadubi (ST) AC, he conveyed.
He further said that women security personnel deployed at the polling stations have been armed with anti-riot gear. It may be also mentioned that three newly functional police stations at Maram, Purul and Tungjoy are facilitated with the helpline number and Whatsapp number for anyone who seeks help.
